About Us
We're a charity supporting people with Parkinson's, their families and their carers. Through friendship, activity and practical support, we help people live well.
Northern Lights Parkinson’s Support Group was founded on lived experience. In 2019, co-founders John Roche and James Clark, both living with Parkinson’s, met by chance at a football match. They got talking, shared their experiences and recognised the need for somewhere people with Parkinson’s could stay active, meet others who understood and feel part of a community.
What began as an idea to create a football team for people with Parkinson’s soon grew into something much bigger. Friendships formed, families became involved and a supportive community developed. On 5 June 2023, Northern Lights officially became a registered UK charity.
Today, we offer a growing range of activities, from walking football and golf to wellbeing programmes, social events, peer support and group holidays, supporting people living with Parkinson’s alongside their families and carers across the North West.
Our mission is simple: improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and create opportunities for connection, activity and hope.
Nobody should face Parkinson’s alone.
We’ve got you.
